Dear Richard,
We are back in Malta! We would like to thank you and your team for a most enjoyable vacation. Considering the many countries (Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil) we visited, and the 14 flights we took, all went well.
Oliver,
Welcome to mysterious and enchanted Easter Island, known locally as Rapa Nui! This Chile tour takes an in depth look at the huge monolithic statues called moais, scattered all over this extinct volcanic island poking up out of the Pacific. Time spent on Rapa Nui offers exciting insight into the stories behind the chiseled faces of the moai set in a strikingly rich natural backdrop of volcanic craters, lagoons and vast ocean. Standing in the crater where they were built, you can explore their creation and marvel at this spiritual place surrounded by vast ocean. You will take a number of professionally guided tours around the island as well as have plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the wonders around you on your own.
Speak to our team of professionals with any questions you may have live atYou will be welcomed at the airport with flower necklaces! You will be transferred to your Easter Island hotel and will have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the island at your leisure.
After a delicious breakfast and relaxing morning spent at your leisure, depart in the afternoon for a half day excursion to Ahu Tahai and Anthropological Museum. Ahu Tahai - ahu being the local word for the great bases on which the statues stand - is the archeological site where many restorations of statues that you will see on your Easter Island tour took place. From here it is only a short distance to Hanga Roa, where you will see your first several Easter Island statues. The main statue which guards a cave house still has its eyes and topknot intact. The next stop is the Sebastian Englert Anthropological Museum which makes for a brilliant introduction to life on Easter Island.
After breakfast, you will be picked up for a full-day tour with a tasty picnic lunch to Rano Raraku Volcano, ahu Tongariki and Anakena. Rano Raraku is a volcanic crater where 95% of the Easter Island statues come from. This becomes evident when marvelling over the almost 400 statues scattered about this magnificent crater. You will also visit Ahu Tongariki, an absolutely stunning combination of scale and location, where fifteen moais line up side by side and Anakena, the only accessible white sand beach where you will find two picture perfect Ahu Nau Nau and Ahu Ature Huki. After a long day sight-seeing, your tour will bring you back to your hotel.
In the morning you will leave on a guided tour to Rano Kao, an enormous crater from where you are able to spot the Orongo Ceremonial Village, as well as a small lagoon scattered with islands of reeds below the rim of the crater. This awesome natural attraction is a truly spectacular wonder of Easter Island. A final stop will be made at Orongo itself, one of the islands most important settlements, riddled with ruins and petroglyphs and the home of the bird-man cult rituals of the 18th and 19th centuries.
After breakfast you will have the whole day to explore wondrous Easter Island as you please or enjoy one of our additional adventures detailed below.
After a delicious breakfast, depart for a half day excursion that includes a visit to Puna Pau, a crater where evidence of the carving of the moai´s distinctive red topknots can be seen. You will also see Te Pahu Cave and Ahu Akivi, which is home to seven great Easter Island statues.
Our pick-up service will transfer you to the airport with a sea shell necklace farewell.
