WHAT TO DO IN CHILLAN

Termas de Chillan

Located just 50 miles from the city of Chile, the nearby ski center of Termas de Chillan has good slopes and one of the longest ski seasons in Chile lasting from May until October. With an elevation of around 5,500 ft. and medicinal hot springs popping up out of the ground, this resort and spa really combines the best of both worlds.

Chillan Tour

The unique and powerful modernist cathedral on the main square was built in 1941 and is supposedly resistant to earthquakes. Inside it becomes evident how the successive sweeping arches allow an impressive amount of light to enter.

After the devastating earthquake of 1939, the Mexican government donated the Escuela Mexico to the city, in which you can find huge murals honoring indigenous and post-Spanish conquest figures painted by David Alfaro Sigueiros and Xavier Guerrero.

Laja Falls

Laja Falls are located in the Laja River and are conveniently located just 45 mi (75 km) south of Chillan along the Pan-Am. A tour to these impressive falls where water plunges about 250 ft / 75 m into a rocky gorge is an amazing experience and one well worth taking.

When To Visit Chillan

Chillan is a great Chile destination all year round. The prime winter sports season is between mid-June and mid-October, although the lifts are running year-round and some years the conditions are good as early as May.
